Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or Level 2, within UCD School of Education. The UCD School of Education is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral researcher to join a research team who are undertaking an evaluation of an intervention called Safe Learning in Sierra Leone, West Africa. The intervention is designed to support children's literacy, their rights, gender equality and well-being across 100 primary schools in rural Sierra Leone (www.safelearning.ie). The post focuses on analysing the quantitative data from the study, on topics relevant to children's learning and development, literacies, gender, and wellbeing. The researcher will have strong quantitative analytical research skills. S/he will work alongside a team of two other postdoctoral researchers in the analysis of the extensive data collected to date. The researcher will be mentored by experienced faculty at UCD School of Education who are conducting the Safe Learning Study. The postdoctoral researcher will also be required to conduct literature reviews as appropriate, contribute to report writing and academic publications based on the results whilst at UCD in Dublin. This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching. The post is full time, with an anticipated start date of November 2021 although the start date can be negotiated for the successful candidate. Candidates are expected to be located in Ireland although hybrid working may be facilitated. PD1: Salary: €38,631 - €44,658 per annum PD2: Salary: €45,942 - €50,030 per annum Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
