Job Description

Applications are invited for the following full-time position in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health:
Research Fellow (Global Health)

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting a full-time experienced Research Fellow for the Leadership Institute for Global Health Transformation (LIGHT).
Specifically, the candidate will work mainly on a project on healthcare financing and health-seeking behaviours of migrant workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Job scope:

  • To lead on research and project management , including:
    • Planning
    • Leading on stakeholder engagement
    • Leading on data collection and analysis
    • Supporting and supervising junior staff
    • Ensuring deliverables are met in a timely manner
    • Leading on the final outputs of the project (reports)
  • To support the LIGHT team and Director on other collaborative and international research and practice projects (planning, writing, liaising with partners, other duties related to setting up and executing LIGHT’s projects). Projects might include
    • Policy briefs to aid government and other public health leaders in decision making
    • Manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals
    • White papers
    • Research grants for submission to local and international grant funding bodies (i.e. NMRC, NIH, NIHR, etc.)
    • Ethics submission documents for research projects, both local and international
    • Interval and final reports for research grants and ethics submissions.
    • Designing of curricula for executive programmes and leadership development programmes
  • To perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

The grade of appointment will be accorded based on candidate’s academic qualifications and years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant subject area (e.g. Public Health, Global Health, Health Economics, Health Policy, International Development, Business Administration, etc.), or equivalent
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills in English
  • Public health/global health experience
  • Strong research skills and experience in mixed methods research
  • Experience in applied econometrics is highly desirable
  • Experience of project managing
  • Experience of supervising students/junior staff
  • Experience of publishing in peer-reviewed international journals and in securing new funding opportunities
  • Experience of policy writing
  • Highly organized and able to work effectively under pressure, use independent judgement and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints
  • Able to work independently as well as with a team.
