  • Salary Package: From $75,400 - $85,728 p.a. (HEW Level 5) plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading.

An opportunity to work in a unique teaching environment at the Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC School), contributing to the learning and development of students K-6.

The Special Education Teacher works closely with a Master Special Education Teacher to design and deliver educational programs for a class of up to 12, K-6 students with a disability.

This position contributes to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans in the areas of literacy, numeracy and behaviour management in alignment with identified student needs and to facilitate student learning outcomes.

Modelling evidence based special education teaching methodologies, this position provides verbal and written feedback to postgraduate students on professional placement to optimise the learning experience for the student. You will also support and participate in research activities relevant to the school.

About You

The successful applicant will have experience in developing and implementing evidence-based literacy and numeracy, teaching programs and resources that meet the needs of students K-6 with a range of disabilities. In addition, the successful applicant will have knowledge of positive teaching practices to support students' engagement in lessons.

Selection Criteria

  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
  • A Special Education qualification (or currently studying)
  • Knowledge of data based teaching methods
  • Knowledge of 'evidence based practice'

The position requires you to comply with occupational screening assessment and vaccinations in line with Macquarie University health requirements and requires a current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for NSW. You will also have to satisfy Macquarie University that you meet all background checks including criminal record and qualification checks.

Start date for this position needs to be 17 January 2022 however a start date during Term 4 2021 can be negotiated.
