At TU Dresden, Faculty of Mathematics, the Institute of Numerical Mathematics offers one position as

Research Associate / PhD Student

(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting at the earliest possible date. The position comprises 75 % of the fulltime weekly hours and is limited to 3 years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).

Tasks: As part of your PhD studies you research on a topic from continuous optimization to develop unified solution approaches for a special class of optimization problems. Additionally, you support the institute in teaching courses of the Faculty of Mathematics for students of mathematics and other subjects (teaching obligation according to Sächsischer Dienstaufgabenverordnung an Hochschulen – DAVOHS) as well as in administrative tasks.

Requirements: You have a university degree (Master or Diploma) in Mathematics.
