De Montfort University (DMU) is an ambitious, globally-minded institution with a relentless focus on delivering quality teaching and learning, and a campus-wide focus on providing a sector-leading student experience. A culturally rich university with a palpable commitment to the public good, it strives to maintain a stimulating and inclusive environment where staff and students are able to thrive. The university is a vibrant, multicultural hub of learning, creativity and innovation that never surrenders to convention. Our success is built on a fantastic student experience coupled with award-winning teaching and world-class facilities that help students develop the skills and attitudes employers demand. Faculty / Directorate We are seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer to join our Social Work academic team on a temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed and research active staff group, located in a Faculty with a well-established portfolio of inter-professional education and a strong commitment to transdisciplinary working in both teaching and research. Role The team is part of a wider Division that offers an innovative range of provision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in relation to Social Work and Youth Work/Youth and Community Development. You will be joining a staff team with extensive practice expertise across a range of social work, social care, and health care settings. The Division has staff with national and international research and publication profiles, and four Associate Professors. This post will focus specifically on module leadership, teaching and student support, and would be an ideal opportunity to gain further academic experience. Ideal Candidate You do not need to have Senior Lecturer experience but the successful applicant will be expected to have primary input into Social Work undergraduate and post graduate provision. Therefore, practice experience and evidenced teaching experience in a higher education or training environment, is essential. You must also be a qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England. The ability to teach topics such as Social Work theory, values and social justice, alongside experience of academic university processes, supporting Social Work students, and collaborative, partnership work, is desirable. The ability to start in role swiftly, or as soon as possible, is essential.
