The Faculty of Fine Arts and Music at the University of Melbourne is home to the Victorian College of the Arts and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. About the role

VCA Design at undergraduate level consists of two majors in the Bachelor of Design – Graphic Design and Performance Design. At graduate level we have a Master of Production Design with two streams – Stage and Screen. This appointment will contribute to the field of Graphic Design and with an interest in curriculum development in Design in the broadest sense

We are seeking an outstanding and well-respected design professional and experienced academic to contribute to the teaching programs of Graphic Design. The incumbent will influence and stimulate the student experience through utilising a range of learning and teaching initiatives. Contribution to curriculum development and artistic and academic collaborations with colleagues across Faculty disciplines to enhance the student experience will also be key components of this role.

This will be a part time (0.5 FTE) continuing position.

About you

You will have an established reputation primarily in the field of Graphic Design with a demonstrated experience of high quality design more broadly. A relevant PhD (or equivalent professional practice), appropriate teaching experience in higher education, understanding of the research environment, experience developing high-quality teaching and learning materials and high level organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills are required.

Based in the beautiful Southbank Campus of The University of Melbourne, you will work nestled amongst Melbourne’s major arts and cultural organisations and venues. You will have the convenience of great transport links to the rest of the city with the serenity of the Botanical Gardens close by.
