The School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education is based across three sites in the Faculty of Medicine: at Aldermoor Health Centre, Southampton General Hospital and Highfield campus. An opportunity has arisen for a trial coordinator to assist with recruitment to, and interview participants on, the Gateway study by carrying out telephone interviews with participants in a community setting.
The Gateway Study is a multi-site pragmatic randomised control trial of young adult offenders (aged 18-24) within Hampshire, with an embedded economic evaluation and qualitative study. The study is aimed at examining whether a new out of court programme, named Gateway, improves the health and wellbeing of young adult offenders aged 18-24 committing low level crime, influences their chance of offending again, and improves victim satisfaction.
Applicants will be educated to HND, Degree, NVQ4 level or have a basic professional qualification in health-related subject or social science (e.g. criminology, psychology) or related field. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, with previous trial coordination or management experience a distinct advantage. Excellent word processing, communication skills and a good eye for detail are essential requirements for this post. Some early evening work, for example, contacting participants, may occasionally be required.
This post is offered on a part time (0.8fte, 28 hours a week). The position is available immediately for 6 months in the first instance but with a good possibility of extension, depending on continued funding.
