Lecturer in Forensic Anthropology / Archaeology (Education and Research)

Grade 7a Starting salary £36,382 - £42,149

Keele University is renowned for its exciting approach to higher education, innovative research, beautiful campus, strong community spirit and excellent student experience.  With a turnover of more than £170 million, over 10,000 students and a total staff of approximately 2000, the University provides high quality teaching across a wide range of academic and vocational subjects and promotes world-class research.  Further information can be found at http://www.keele.ac.uk

There are two permanent lectureship posts immediately available which represent an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic and growing Forensics Science team in Keele University’s School of Chemical and Physical Sciences. We plan to fill a third post, hopefully in the coming year. Within the School there is an excellent teaching and research infrastructure, and a strong commitment and track record in providing high quality educational programmes within a research-led context; the posts also offer the opportunity to further develop the School’s research profile.

The appointments arise from the substantial growth and success of the Forensic Science programmes at Keele University, which is ranked No 1 in England for Forensic Science (Complete University Guide 2021). To further increase the strength of the School we wish to attract outstanding candidates to work in the three key areas of our provision, including the area of forensic anthropology/archaeology or a closely related area, complementing existing teaching and research strengths in the School and wider Faculty of Natural Sciences. The successful candidate will have a degree in Forensic Science or a related discipline, and a PhD in the area of Forensic Anthropology / Archaeology or a closely related area. You will be expected to play a key role in the Forensic Science teaching team and will support both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including delivering taught sessions, managing project/laboratory work and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. You will also be expected to have shown significant achievement in research and will have the potential to develop and/or maintain an internationally competitive programme of independent research.

Keele University is committed to the principles of the Athena SWAN charter, and values equality and diversity across our workforce.  The School of Chemical and Physical Sciences has recently received Bronze award and we strive to ensure that our workforce is representative of broader society.

The University is committed to operating flexible working practices wherever possible.

Keele University values equality and diversity across our workforce and to ensuring our staff community is reflective of the diversity of our student population. In support of these commitments the University welcomes applications from individuals of Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds for all roles.

Company

Keele University was founded more than 60 years ago on the belief that they met the demands of a new kind of society, economy and world. The university feels these principles resonate now more than ever.

Nestled in 600 acres of countryside in the heart of the UK, Keele is the largest campus based university and has a cosmopolitan community, with more than 150 clubs and societies to join, as well as shops, cafes, bars, an award-winning Students’ Union and a health centre.

Keele University delivers a range of academic courses and research across a variety of subjects, from health and humanities to social and natural sciences. They teach in small groups, provide one-to-one access to their academics and value the quality of their teaching as highly as their research.

Over the last decade, the university has invested over £140 million into the campus, including a £2.7 million transformation at the centre of campus. The university offers more than 3,000 bedrooms on campus and is hoping to increase this to over 4,000 over the next few years.

Keele University successively ranks at the very top of student satisfaction surveys.

Whatever your area of study, their distinctive and flexible approach to teaching and learning will open your mind to challenge and build a broader based knowledge.
