The UBD Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) Scheme is offered to outstanding early to mid-career researchers to strengthen their research experience in a world-class university setting. The PDF Scheme is highly competitive. It aims to equip successful fellows with building blocks to push the frontiers of knowledge through research excellence and enhance their teaching competencies to boost their prospect of being employed in reputable academic institutions.

Successful fellows are expected to provide quality contributions to the Faculty/Institute/Centre (FIC) of the university, particularly in areas that supports the university's research thrusts. Fellows will be appointed for one (1) year, and can be extended for another year subject to the performance review of the first year. The maximum duration of fellowship is three (3) years. The fellow is expected to be in Brunei Darussalam.

Eligibility

  • PhD from a university recognised by UBD.
  • Early career academics (less than 5 years after PhD).
  • Applicants are under 40 years old.
  • Highly motivated and proactive with some research experience.

Typical Duties

  • Conduct new or continue existing research. The PDF may apply a joint grant proposal with UBD researchers.
  • Publish research papers and journal articles. Co- publishing with UBD researchers is encouraged.
  • The fellow may contribute towards the teaching in the FICs to gain teaching experience.
  • Present seminars at respective FICs.

  • A research proposal not exceeding two pages.
