Job Description

As a part of the university’s newly announced common curriculum, the Division of Industrial Design will offer course modules on Design Thinking. These modules are compulsory for NUS students and will be delivered using a synchronous / asynchronous teaching model.

Design thinking is a series of processes that develops an ability to place a problem in context, to observe and listen, to think critically, and to collaborate effectively to produce a solution considering both form and function. Students will be exposed to both the theory of design thinking and practical prototyping activities.

We are currently looking for dynamic, passionate and inspirational teaching assistants who have a clear knowledge of the Design Thinking processes. You will also need to be able to communicate concepts effective to students in disciplines outside of design, and contribute to continued improvements to content and teaching pedagogy.

This is a full-time post and offers a fantastic opportunity for professional development. Candidates will receive training in teaching and design facilitation. All course materials will be provided.

You will actively work with the Design Thinking program coordinator and faculty content creators. You will be responsible for managing several classes of the same course module of approximately 25 students, providing feedback and assessment during class hours and consultations, as students work through a series of Design Thinking workshops. As a staff at the Division of Industrial Design, you will also provide support to various activities and service areas.

Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related discipline, with a keen interest in teaching, as well as a track record of design excellence, research and/or practice. Remuneration will commensurate with experience and degree.

The Division of Industrial Design is an equal opportunity employer and supports workplace diversity. Qualified female and applicants with diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants may start immediately, applicants should be able to commence work in June/July at the latest.
