About Facilities

Facilities are a key Professional Service Unit (PSU) working across the University. As a major support service for the University, this PSU is dedicated to the effective management, development and maintenance of the University’s buildings, infrastructure and land. We develop and maintain a safe, high-quality environment in a professional, efficient and cost-effective manner, enabling the University to fulfil its strategic objectives.

About the Role

We are currently looking to recruit an Apprentice to join our Facilities Management Team. This training position will develop you to have competence in in facilities management services and will lead to a formal Apprenticeship Qualification in Facilities Management.

Working as part of this Team you will have the opportunity apply what you learn and to gain practical experience in supporting the delivery of a service which is compliant with health and safety, other legislation and our organisational policies and procedures. In addition, you will support our Facilities Managers with key projects and will learn how to ensure space is being used effectively by the University; how to manage related risks, hazards and threats to people, property and premises and how to use information technology systems required for the role.

About You

As an Apprentice you will be part of a busy team and will be working in a variety of working environments interacting with work colleagues, contractors and members of the public. You will require a good standard of numeracy and literacy; have good communication skills both written and verbal; be able to work as part of a team; use your own initiative and be enthusiastic to learn new skills/tasks.
