Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the Faculty of Science MU invites applications for a research position funded by the project "The language of higher dimensional categories''. 

Job Description

Key Duties: The researcher will join the research team of John Bourke, within the Algebra, Topology and Number Theory Group, cf. http://www.math.muni.cz/english/structure/algebra-topology-and-number-theory.html

The project “The language of higher dimensional categories” covers the broad range of structures with connections to higher dimensional category theory, such as monads and theories, monoidal categories and their variants, enriched category theory including 2-categories and infinity-cosmoi, accessible categories.  

The researcher will conduct research in category theory and its applications, possibly including, but not limited to, some of the topics listed above.

Skills and Qualifications

The applicant must have:

  • Strong background in category theory
  • Good publication record
  • A PhD degree in mathematics or related areas (or be close to obtaining one)
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
