The School of Science (www.gre.ac.uk/es/science) at the University of Greenwich is a large interdisciplinary School, covering biological sciences, biomedical sciences, food and nutrition, chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences, and forensic science. We have ambitious research and teaching plans as part of our new University Strategy “This is our time” to ensure that our students are fully prepared for future careers. Collegiality and interdisciplinary research and teaching are key features of the School.

Following the appointment of Professor Adrian Dobbs to the role of Head of the School of Science, a vacancy has arisen within the Dobbs research group for an experienced postdoctoral researcher. You should have a PhD and proven track record in synthetic organic chemistry. The successful appointment will be involved in a number of methodology and total synthesis projects within the Group, based around Lewis acid catalysed methods (related to the Prins reaction), innovative flow synthetic electrochemistry and photochemistry (spiroketal synthesis) and the development of anti-mesothelioma agents (JBIR-101 and JBIR-23). For further details about the Group please see www.gre.ac.uk/people/rep/faculty-of-engineering-and-science/adrian-dobbs. In addition, there will be an opportunity to gain experience in helping run a research group and to undertake some undergraduate teaching, including lecturing, and project supervision. This is a temporary appointment for two years in the first instance. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly talented and motivated researcher who aspires to a future academic career.
