About the Role
The use of Robotics and Automation in industry is currently limited by the lack of flexibility within conventional systems and their bespoke nature. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Aero-structure Assembly and Systems Installation Group following the award of significant funding by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research council for a Research Fellow to support the development of innovative new approaches to flexible automation and robotics. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside researchers from Loughborough and Sheffield Universities and with leading industrial collaborators. The successful candidate will work on the development of flexible control systems and reconfigurable safety systems.
We are looking for someone to join the team with good software skills and a knowledge of machine learning and control. You will need to have good project management skills as well as taking a ‘hands on’ approach to the development of the technology. A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related subject is essential for the post. The successful candidate should also ideally hold a relevant PhD but exceptionally an applicant with a Masters’ degree and appropriate experience may be considered.
