Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Leveraging Music for Learning and Well-being in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 504569), to commence on September 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year temporary term.

This position is funded by the University of Hong Kong and the Research Grant Council (RGC) of Hong Kong for a research project on “Leveraging Background Music for Learning”, which aims to investigate the effects of music on learning and well-being. The approach is highly interdisciplinary, integrating computational, psychological and (neuro-)physiological methods. The project is part of the University’s strategic research theme of artificial intelligence for well-being and society. The appointee will work under the supervision of Dr. Xiao Hu (https://web.edu.hku.hk/staff/academic/xiaoxhu), Associate Professor in the Academic Unit of Human Communication, Development, and Information Sciences, and Director of the Culture Computing and Multimodal Information Research (http://ccmir.cite.hku.hk/) in the Faculty of Education. There will also be a co-supervisor in Cognitive and Neural Sciences. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in information science, computer science, engineering, learning sciences, psychology, cognitive science or a closely related field, knowledge of and experience in learning analytics. Those with knowledge of eye tracking, physiological/neural computing and/or machine learning would be preferred. They should also be self-motivated, detail-oriented with excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills; good ability in academic writing in English; and demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse, collegial team on multiple tasks and projects.

The appointee will be responsible for assisting in planning, managing, coordinating, and implementing related research projects within the University and internationally, including drafting reports, manuscripts, and research grant proposals, and conducting research with the professional sector and communities. He/She will be responsible for supervising Research Assistant(s) and perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
