At TU Dresden the Faculty of Business and Economics invites applications for the positon of a
Junior Professorship (W1) of Business Informatics,
especially Management Analytics
initially limited to a four-year contract, to be filled at the earliest possible date. If the interim evaluation is positive, the employment contract will be extended to a total of six years.
The evaluation process will be based on evaluation criteria to be mutually agreed upon when the position is accepted. Essential elements of the evaluation will be publications in international top-tier journals, the active participation in national and international conferences, the development of innovative teaching concepts and contents in the area of Management Analytics, the offering of courses (in German and English) and their positive evaluation, as well as the acquisition of third-party research funds.
You will represent the field of Business Informatics, especially Management Analytics in teaching and research. Courses will be taught in the bachelor, master and diploma degree programs of the Faculty of Business and Economics, with a particular focus on the study specialization areas in Business Informatics. Initially, the teaching obligation comprises four academic hours per week. We expect you to cooperate actively with faculty members, to engage in interdisciplinary research collaborations within the university, as well as to contribute actively to external fundraising and in academic self-administration.
You hold an excellent PhD (or equivalent), or are in the final phase of your PhD (expected completion by fall 2021), in the area of Business Informatics (BI) or Information Systems (IS) with a background in Management Analytics (i.e., the application of analytics, including machine learning and other AI-based techniques, in management contexts) and have a proven track record of excellent academic achievements, as demonstrated by publications in leading international journals and presentations at international conferences. In line with the profile of the Faculty of Business and Economics and of the Business Informatics group, a design science-oriented research approach with the potential for theory building (in the sense of design theories) is expected. Empirical research, if situated in Business Informatics or Information Systems, is also welcome. We are particularly interested in applications from candidates with a research focus in at least one of the following areas: use of analytics applications for the data-driven management of value-creation processes/networks and/or strategic transformation processes; analytics for the design or development of management support systems (e.g., decision support systems) and/or data-driven management approaches; use of analytics for the design or management of data-driven business models and/or digital platforms and ecosystems. We expect teaching experience and good teaching skills as well as the ability and willingness to offer courses in English. Proficiency in German is not a prerequisite for appointment. However, we expect the successful candidate to acquire sufficient language skills in German to conduct teaching and administrative tasks within two years of appointment. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 63 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
