Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Engineering disciplines, or equivalent, preferably with project management experience in collaborative robot development and/or human-centered research.

For applicants applying for the robotic research track, they are preferred to have research experience in a) robot control and system development; b) vision and graphics; c) machine learning and deep learning; d) software design and development, with independent research ability and leadership. Good programming skills are highly preferred.

For applicants applying for the human-centered research track, they are preferred to have research experience in a) design of experiments; b) human subject testing; c) data analytics; d) human factor/ergonomics research, with independent research ability and leadership. Skills in functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and electroencephalogram (EEG) are highly preferred.

 

Job Description

1. Develop and evaluate 3D vision techniques for environment understanding, including human body reconstruction and tracking, scene understanding, and video analytics;

2. Develop and evaluate novel interactive interface with AR/VR technologies for human-robot collaborations;

3. Develop and evaluate motion planning algorithms for complex robotic manipulation for textile assembly;

4. Invent and evaluate benchmarks for human-robot collaboration tasks in garment industry;

5. Work in close collaboration with researchers from partner institutions and advise PhD students working on relevant research topics;

6. Integrate the developed algorithms, techniques and hardware to the system prototype, and contribute to human-robot collaboration showcases with our collaborators from the garment industry;

7. Draft annual reports, organize dissemination, communicate with industrial collaborators and present research papers at international conferences, workshops and journals.
