The University of Lincoln’s National Centre for Food Manufacturing is a major resource for the UK’s food manufacturing sector delivering skills, research, and support for innovation in partnership with over 250 leading food businesses and we partner with Lincoln School of Computer Science and Engineering to deliver apprenticeships across the manufacturing sector.

We are seeking an engineering professional to drive forward our Higher and Degree Apprenticeships. Ideally, you will be an experienced Apprenticeship Leader and teacher from within a training organisation with a background as a multi-skilled engineer in food or another manufacturing sector. We are also keen to hear from current engineers looking for a rewarding change of career (but you must be prepared to qualify as a teacher).

A satellite campus of the University of Lincoln, the NCFM is part of the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology (IoT). A new IoT Digital Food Manufacturing Technologies Centre is being established on the South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone, complementing a £7M investment in a flagship Centre of Excellence in Agri-food Technologies. The Lincoln School of Engineering and Computer Science is based at the Lincoln campus, where Siemen’s training centre is co-located. Our clients including Coca-Cola, Bakkavor, Kraft Heinz, Nestle and other leading manufacturing businesses.

Apprentices study on a part-time basis, with distance learning supported by block release the platform for delivery. The role involves teaching, curriculum leadership, quality management and overseeing of employer partnerships. As Programme Leader, you will play a key role in shaping engineering apprenticeships for years to come, working with engineering managers across the UK to build an offer that will both raise the skills levels of existing engineers and attract young people into the industry.

You will be part of a dynamic team of professionals who are adept at working with businesses and supporting apprentices.

The post is offered on a Teaching and Professional Practice contract and is focused on teaching and curriculum leadership specifically related to apprenticeships. This role is focused on part-time learners in a School which works with businesses and has no full-time students. The post is not suitable for individuals seeking a role which is predominantly research focused or concerned with standard delivery of full-time undergraduate and postgraduate provision.
