You will be an experienced theatre practitioner and educator with a strong track record of practice/research. You should have experience working in the theatre industry and either hold or be close to the completion of a postgraduate qualification. You will need expertise in delivering conservatoire-based curriculum, principally teaching voice, but you should also be open to teaching other areas that might include acting, directing, writing, and theatre-making. You should be able to work in a multicultural, interdisciplinary context and be up to date with recent changes in theory and practice. You should be ready to guide students to prepare themselves for the challenges of the theatre and performance industry in Asia and internationally.

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Provide academic leadership and support in managing the academic and operational administration of assigned courses or Programme, which include:
  • undertaking 20 to 24 contact/teaching hours per week during term time teaching Voice. You should also be open to teaching other areas that might include acting, directing, writing, and theatre-making
  • providing voice coaching for student productions
  • coordinating the design, preparation and development of documents (such as Module Guide) and teaching resources
  • contributing and collating input on the review of curriculum and academic activities
  • coordinating and preparing reports relating to students’ progress, performance and attendance
  • overseeing the conduct of students’ assignments/works/projects
  • performing supervisory duties such as organising regular briefing and dialogue with lecturing staff, inducting new full-time or adjunct lecturers, setting the ethos for teaching, and conducting class observations
  • keeping up to date on the development of related courses or Programmes, including teaching practice and learning strategy
  • Plan and organise a variety of activities, such as workshops, exhibitions, performances, Open House, marketing outreach programmes or any internal/external events
  • Mentor and provide pastoral care and support to students, including career guidance and Industry-based learning (IBL) supervision
  • Establish and maintain links with the industry and institutions to foster a total approach of academic pursuit alongside industry practice
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration and research
  • Be involved in Programme/School level strategic planning and contribute to the Academy’s strategic planning process
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time


  • Minimum Master’s degree with the relevant certification in Voice
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching and relevant working experience
  • Positive, enthusiastic and results-oriented with the ability to engage students in their learning
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • A team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong track record of research/practice, with actual or potential for research output in your chosen field
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
