The University of Southampton has an ambitious portfolio of change, designed to help deliver the goals and objectives outlined in our University Strategy.

The University Change Portfolio Office reports into the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for supporting the delivery of the University’s strategy, through the management of the Strategic Major Projects portfolio and its constituent programmes and projects.

The Change Portfolio Office has an exciting opportunity for a full-time experienced and dynamic Programme Manager to be responsible for the definition, coordination, control, execution, and completion of the Future Ways of Working Programme. This complex programme will deliver multiple workstreams to address the University’s fresh approach to hybrid working and the associated operating model and space implications.

You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to plan and manage your own workload. You will be a positive and proactive problem solver and be able to manage often conflicting priorities at the same time to ensure that work is delivered on time and to a high standard. You will be a strong team player, but also be self-sufficient and able to work independently.

You will have a skill level (including experience and other qualifications) equivalent to achievement of a professional qualification or postgraduate degree. A PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent agile or traditional project and/or programme management qualification is also required. You will be able to build, manage and motivate project teams in a matrix management environment. You will be professional, clear thinking under pressure and act as a role model within the Change Portfolio Office.  Experience of delivering organisational change will be key.

If you would like to discuss the role in more detail, please contact Laura Howells, Head of University Change Portfolio Office via email L.E.Howells@soton.ac.uk
