The University of Lincoln is an ambitious and fast-growing academic community. Although established within the last twenty years, it already ranks among the Top 20 Universities in the UK (Guardian University Guide 2020). The School of History and Heritage forms part of the College of Arts, the largest College in the University, and is located at the University’s main Brayford campus beside a natural pool in the River Witham. The School has a growing portfolio of subjects to add to its well-established History and Conservation programmes, and has launched Modern History, Philosophy and Art History and History BA courses. Lincoln launched its BA (Hons) in Classical Studies in September 2018, and will be graduating its first cohort of students in the summer of 2021. First-year students receive a solid grounding in the art, archaeology, history, and literature of the Greek and Roman worlds, in addition to a full year’s tuition in the Latin language.

The School wishes to appoint a creative and talented teacher of Classical languages with a focus on ancient Latin language and literary culture. This is a teaching post and is a permanent position. Applicants should have an established profile as a teacher. The successful candidate will coordinate and teach ancient Latin language and literature modules to students across the BA (Hons) Classical Studies degree programme and will join a teaching team with expertise in ancient, late antique, and medieval history and archaeology. Additionally the ability to teach ancient Greek language and literary culture is desirable. They may also be asked to contribute to Open Days and other recruitment activities.

The successful candidate will join a thriving, friendly School with a first-class research profile and a strong collaborative culture. In making an application please outline your experience and provide and explain any previous experience you have of administrative, pastoral and recruitment activities.

Please direct any enquiries in the first instance to the Head of School, Professor John Morrison at Jmorrison@lincoln.ac.uk
