The University of Lincoln is an ambitious Higher Education institution. Situated in the heart of a beautiful and historic city, it has built an international reputation for the quality of its teaching and research, which is reflected in our Gold award in the national Teaching Excellence Framework. The University of Lincoln has been named as the Modern University of the Year in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021. It is also committed to growing student numbers, using new partnerships with external organisations and innovative forms of programme delivery.

The Lincoln School of Design is one of the University of Lincoln’s largest schools with over 1,000 design students taught at Arts Foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Lincoln and Hong Kong. The BA Hons Illustration programme is the second largest in the School’s portfolio.

We are recruiting a Senior Lecturer - ideally with expertise in illustration animation, moving media and Concept Art (Conceptualised Illustration for film, games, and moving media) - who will take over the role of Programme Leader in 2022. In this role, you will conduct innovative curriculum design and development using digital technologies. You will also make a broad contribution to leadership across the school. Innovation, creativity, collegiality and good management are important to us. With excellent communication skills and a ‘can do’ approach, you will be an all-round achiever and a supportive colleague.

The responsibilities of the programme leader include academic leadership (creating a unified and coherent academic programme made up of a collection of modules), and the leadership of academics (supporting peers in meeting their specific responsibilities across the programme). Integral to both is the importance of creating productive and positive inter-personal relationships across a wide array of colleagues: quality and administrative officers, educational developers, academic peers, senior academic leaders and of course students.

This appointment will be made to the ‘Teaching, Scholarship and Professional Practice’ profile, which includes responsibility for conducting scholarly and / or professional practice projects, securing funding for these activities, and working with industry to enhance student employability and the student experience.

We are an equal opportunities employer, celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. The University positively encourages applications and the opportunity to employ people from underrepresented groups inclusive of Black and Ethnic Minority candidates, candidates of all gender identities and expressions, candidates from the LGBT+ community and those that practise different faiths and beliefs to enhance our One Community where we strive to be kind, patient, and supportive of each other.

If you would like to know more about this opportunity, please contact Professor Anne Chick, Head of the Lincoln School of Design, achick@lincoln.ac.uk.
