An exciting opportunity for an International Relations Education and Communication Officer exists at Western Sydney University. The position will promote the University’s commitment to security culture and integrity of foreign arrangements undertaken at Western through communication, education and development programs.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies and education programs for staff and HDR students and raising awareness of foreign influence and foreign interference risks. This includes liaising with external stakeholders, the sector and Government to share knowledge and risk mitigation strategies, communicating about foreign arrangements and interference risks where appropriate.

The position will work with the International Relations Development Manager Officer to regularly assess the maturity of the University’s security strategy, policies and procedures, and incorporate into risk reporting cycles. The position will also provide targeted training for key personnel who contribute to the security of people, information, and assets to safeguard against foreign interference.

To be successful in the role, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated time management skills including the ability to coordinate and prioritise workflow in a high-volume work environment. A clear understanding of the relevant legislation, government policy and international developments are of the utmost importance in this role.

This is a part-time (17.5 hours per week), fixed-term position until 31 October 2023, based at the Penrith. 

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 7 (pro-rata rates) $54,103 to $58,378 (comprising Salary of $45,718 to $49,330 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading).
