We invite applications for a

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

position in the research group of Academy Research Fellow Dr. Vinko Palada that explores circadian regulation of chronic pain and associated comorbidities. The aim of Academy of Finland funded project is to investigate the effects of nerve injury on circadian clocks in sensory tissues and to explore the potential of chronobiotics, drugs with ability to modify circadian rhythmicity, to provide pain relief.

Job description and key requirements:

We are looking for creative and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong enthusiasm towards science. A successful candidate should have a PhD degree and strong academic background in neuroscience, molecular biology, pharmacology, chronobiology, or other related discipline. At least one first author publication is required. Previous experience with pain research, expertise in mouse models and drug screens are considered strong merits. Working knowledge of R or Phyton and experience with omics analysis are beneficial. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and will take part in experimental planning, applying for grants, drafting of the manuscripts and co-supervision of students. Excellent communication skills in English, and technical and organizational abilities are expected.

Contract and work benefits:

The employment would start in November 2021 as a 2-year position with a possibility of prolongation. A 6-month trial period will be applied. The initial starting salary is at the level 5 for teaching and research personnel according to the salary system of the Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component will be paid based on personal performance, with an overall starting salary to approximately 3200 EUR per month, which is increased based on the qualifications and previous relevant research experience of the candidate.
