Senior Research Scientist, School of Geography

Applications are invited for a 18 months post full time or part time of a Senior Research Scientist within School of Geography.

This position is associated with a larger project (Terrain-AI) that is focussed on the surface-air exchanges of energy, water and gases from a variety of landscape types (grassland, forests, etc.). A core element of this research will integrate of data from a variety of sources, including satellite, aerial and drone data, meteorological observations and existing socio-economic data to provide high resolution information on greenhouse gas emissions.

This information will be used to build profiling tools that can be used to develop and test management policies. The successful candidate will work with a large team with members focussed on different aspects of the project and be an important contributor in designing and implementing the research.

This research position is focussed on emissions from the urban landscape and has a focus on the greater Dublin area.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geospatial data analysis, the integration of large datasets and the development of tools to automate data processing and analysis. The successful candidate will work with others focussed on modelling, observations and remote sensing.

Salary range: €40,000 - €55,000 per annum (to be pro-rated for part-time hours) Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
