The University of Greenwich is seeking to appoint a part time (0.5FTE), fixed term administrative post of ‘Advanced Mathematics Support Programme Area Co-ordinator’

You will play a key role in the operation of the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme in the London and South East region. You will work as a part of a team of 7 Area Coordinators across the region. You will be responsible for the effective management of support for schools and colleges in their teaching of mathematics in order to increase student participation in Level 3 qualifications.

The post will be located in the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences which is based at the University’s Maritime Greenwich Campus. The School has an excellent reputation for its range of courses and is committed to continually improving the learning, teaching and assessment opportunities for students.

You will be an expert mathematics educator with a first degree in mathematics or equivalent and successful experience of teaching mathematics at A level. Ideally you will also have experience of supporting, mentoring and/or training teachers. You will be well organised and able to work effectively and flexibly, both independently and as part of a team. You will be confident and adaptable in your use of technology. You will have excellent communication skills.

The post requires effective liaison with AMSP and university colleagues and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships and networks with teachers, schools and colleges. Therefore, the post holder will need to be able to travel freely. This post will involve some evening work and spending some time away from the office outside of normal office hours including some weekends. Expenses are paid at an agreed rate.

The appointee may be asked to undertake any reasonable duties within the University, including evening and weekend activities.

The start date is 1 May 2021, or sooner if you are available, and the post is offered for a fixed term until 31 July 2022 in the first instance. The hours of work are 17.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE), with some flexibility about which days are worked.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Tony Mann, Director, Greenwich Maths Centre at
