Applications are invited for appointments as Full-time / Part-time Research Associate / Senior Research Assistant (3 posts) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.: 504042), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal up to four years, subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a degree (preferably M.Phil./Ph.D. degree) in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Physiology, Medical Science, Life Science, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Science or other related disciplines. They should have a good record of publications and post-qualification experience related to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, stem cell and cell based therapies, biomaterials, and related research. They should be mature; highly self-motivated; attentive to details; and be able to work both independently and with teammates in a multidisciplinary environment.  They should also have an excellent command of written and spoken English; a strong sense of responsibility; and good communication and interpersonal skills. Preference will be given to those with previous experience in GMP manufacturing of pharmaceutical or cell-based products, particularly related to production, quality control or quality assurance.

The appointees will perform cell culturing; biochemical assays; histological, immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence staining and analysis; and other related activities. They will participate in the planning and execution of the production process, the quality control programme or the quality assurance activities in accordance with SOPs and GMP compliant procedures. They will also be responsible for drafting documents related to Advanced Therapeutic Product (ATPs) manufacturing and regulations, and performing other associated duties as assigned. They may need to travel overseas to conduct research in GMP manufacturing facilities. Enquiries about the duties of the post should be sent to Professor B. Chan at bpchan@hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits, if applicable. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
