The Department offers two BSc (Hons) programmes in Applied Biology, and in Bioresource and Agricultural Science; and MPhil and PhD degrees in Biological Science, Environmental Science and Agricultural Science. Strong emphasis is placed on both quality education and scholarly research.

Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (Environmental Microbiology) (PR0084/20-21)

The Department is recruiting a tenure-track faculty member who is independent, energetic and ambitious. He/She should commit to excellence in both research and teaching in Environmental Microbiology.

Applicants should have a PhD degree in microbiology, biotechnology, bioengineering and environmental science or related fields. They should have strong postdoctoral research experience, and a track record of outstanding research publications and teaching credentials in bioconversion to bioproducts and bioenergy, soil bioremediation and microbiology, or molecular biological treatment. An interest in collaborative research that complements existing expertise among the bioresource and agriculture faculty members is expected.

The position is on tenure-track with an initial appointment on three-year fixed-term contract. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement. Tenured appointment is expected to be attained within six years.  

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. An attractive start-up package including set up fund and reduced teaching load will be provided.
