Competitive Salary and Benefits

Guardian University of the Year 2019; Times and Sunday Times Modern University of the Year 2018; THE 2017 University of the Year; these are just some of the accolades bestowed upon Nottingham Trent University. We are focused on ‘Creating the University of the Future’, transforming the lives of our students and, through them, the world in which we live.

With 30 members of staff and 700 students, the Department of Chemistry and Forensics is part of the School of Science and Technology, an exciting multidisciplinary environment for learning, teaching and research, with some of the best facilities in the UK.  The Department has a long and established history for delivering cutting edge and applied research with our courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level receiving high levels of student satisfaction. Our expert and enthusiastic people are the cornerstone to our success, many are active practitioners in their fields and all work hard to develop our students’ skills and knowledge to become contemporary chemists and forensic scientists.

We are seeking to appoint a new Professor and Head to continue to lead the Department towards international excellence. As our Head you will work collegially in ensuring that our diverse student cohort reach their potential and, with a focus on career progression of the team, an important part of your leadership brief will be the support of their roles, whether this be in encouraging our upward research trajectory or developing teaching and practice pathways.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an academic leader with a passion and a clear vision for how we can continue our learning and teaching excellence and at the same time increase our research profile. Candidates can come from either academic discipline but must bring a broad mindset, harnessing the power of both areas and supporting our students and staff to excel.
