Southampton Clinical Trials Unit

The Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU), normally based on the site of Southampton General Hospital, manages a growing portfolio of multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influence routine clinical practice. SCTU staff are currently working from home. 

We have a vacancy for an Administrative Assistant, to join the Quality and Regulatory Team in maintaining and developing the quality and regulatory systems. Tasks will include: liaison with internal and external clinical research teams; tracking, reporting and filing of quality, contractual and safety documents; and setting up new systems to complement those already in place. 

The successful applicant must have strong English communication skills, with excellent attention to detail including high standards of accuracy. They will be able to demonstrate strong organisational skills with the knowledge and ability to understand and rationalise problems. The right candidate should be able to follow standard procedures and enter information accurately into in-house databases. A background in science or a medical/healthcare related field would be desirable. It would be desirable to have an understanding of GCP and clinical trial regulations, although full training will be given to the right candidate. 

The CTU is part of a strong research environment in Southampton which includes the Centre for Cancer Immunology, Cancer Research UK Clinical Centre, Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility and a successful research active NHS Trust.

This full time position is available on an 18 month fixed term contract in the first instance. Part time hours may be considered, however days of working MUST include Fridays, other working days will be negotiable and discussed at interview stage. The starting salary will be dependent upon experience in the range £20,675 - £24,461.
