About the opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow in Dairy Science to develop and conduct research in "Pastures and Feedbase for dairy systems" as part of the "4H-healthy milk, cows, systems and people" (Dairy UP Program). The Dairy UP is a collaborative program led by the University of Sydney's Dairy Research Foundation (DRF) and developed in collaboration with NSW DPI, Dairy Australia and Scibus, with strong support from all industry sectors. In this role, you will develop and lead research project/s, supervise/co-supervise undergraduate (honours) and postgraduate (HDR) students and actively publish research outputs in top international journals in the field. The position reports to Professor Yani Garcia, Director, Dairy Research Foundation.

The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) brings together researchers in the life, earth and environmental sciences to improve teaching and build new infrastructure to support and enhance capacity in research and teaching. It is a large School divided into three Research and Teaching Themes. SOLES currently teaches 1892 equivalent full-time student load (EFTSL) undergraduate students and over 200 postgraduate students.

About you

  • a PhD (or near completion) in Agricultural, Plant, Animal or Veterinary Sciences or equivalent
  • an ability to design, plan and implement research projects in the feedbase and dairy areas
  • a demonstrated knowledge of, or experience with, pasture-based dairy systems
  • a track-record of scientific publication in the feedbase or related area
  • a vaccination for Q fever and a class A driver license are required.

The commencement level will be determined based on the candidate's skills, experience, and knowledge.
