We are seeking top-rated PhD applications from candidates who are excellent quantitative modelling and finance theoretic skillset. Two priority areas are:

  • Financial technology and cryptocurrency: new theory (developing asset pricing theory) and new empirical models.

Research in these subject areas is currently undertaken by Department of Banking and Finance, and Department of HRM&OB.  Please visit our website ( to explore staff research interests in these departments.

Over the past years, research in financial technology and cryptocurrency have seen unprecedented growth, yet the theoretical contributions are nascent. We are seeking applicants with expertise in, for instance, optimal control and dynamic programming and/or advanced time series modelling. Likewise, green finance has become a hot research topic and we are seeking applications where prospective student can apply and/or develop learning models under uncertainty and exploit systemic features of ‘memory’ to study cross-national dynamics of sustainability issues.
