About the Job

Led by Swinburne University of Technology, working in partnership with CSIRO and Germany’s ARENA 2036, the Victorian Hydrogen Hub (VH2) project will bring together researchers, industry partners and business. Testing, trialling and demonstrating new and emerging hydrogen technologies, the Victorian Hydrogen Hub will support sustainable manufacturing practices and the ability to store clean energy from renewable sources, striving to create a sustainable future for all.

As the Research Assistant for the Capability Engine you will contribute to a culture led innovation platform spanning curriculum development, teaching and research within the innovation ecosystem that includes the innovation institutes, Innovation Precinct, Design Factory Melbourne (DFM) and the wider Design Factory Global Network (DFGN).

Your role involves assisting the Capability Engine Lead to manage activities that foster an innovation culture, specifically coaching teams from diverse backgrounds to embrace an open mind-set required by a collaborative learning environment. You will be working at the intersection of enterprise and academia and should be comfortable working in an interdisciplinary environment and be capable of making internal and external links with varied academic disciplines, professional organisations, industry and government.

You will play an important role in supporting team based problem solving and assisting in the managing of student learning and experience at postgraduate and/or undergraduate level. You will have experience in co-creation and design-inspired innovation methods, including integrated approaches to leverage application of fundamental research. You will also contribute to research to the advancement of knowledge in a rapidly evolving social, cultural and technological field.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Design, Social Sciences, Psychology, Entrepreneurship or a relevant field and professional experience in research or related professional industries
  • Research experience in either academia and/or industry with skills in research design, ethics protocols, literature and best practice review, writing and editing
  • Ability to interpret content and work with diverse stakeholders as part of the co-creation process
  • The ability to easily establish trust-based relationships and to gain insights through communication and collaboration.
