The IPS is searching for staff who can support research, teaching and knowledge transfer activities in the following areas:

  • Education, Employment and Urban Studies
  • China and Regional Studies
  • Policy Studies and Management

The appointees will be mainly responsible for (a) assisting in research projects (e.g. writing research proposals and reports, collecting and analyzing Hong Kong panel data for research activities); (b) organizing research events (e.g., conferences and seminars) and supporting teaching / training programmes; (c) engaging different knowledge transfer activities; and (d) engaging in teaching and learning activities.

General Requirements

Applicants should have

  1. relevant postgraduate qualifications (preferably PhD) in the above areas;
  2. substantial relevant work experience in research proposal writing, conducting research projects and writing research project reports;
  3. good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; and
  4. a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese. Preference will be given to candidates with strong track records in policy research.

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, and gratuity for the eligible appointee. Experienced Postdoctoral Fellow may carry a functional title of Research Assistant Professor. Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to two years.

Appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment with possibility of consideration for substantiation.
