Are you looking to take on and develop a new role associated with the provision and cost control of cloud-based services? Do you want to use your experience of cloud automation, cost reduction and optimization to help develop an efficient new cloud environment in an organization that is open, vibrant and welcomes new ideas and change? Then join the University of East London IT Services team as a Cloud Cost Optimization Analyst.

It’s a particularly exciting time here at the University as, under our new 10-year strategy, Vision 2028, and our extensive Digital Transformation programme, we are one of the leading organizations within the sector in terms of our plans and ambitions to move services into public cloud. Our IT Services department now has an exciting opportunity for an organized individual with an eye for detail and experience in cloud services, cloud consumption financial cost modelling, management, and reporting to join the team.

As a member of the Service Management team, you will be instrumental in the cost effective provision of our cloud based services, analysing our cloud infrastructure and spending patterns, recommending and participating in optimization and tuning of our services, providing input and guidance in the configuration licensing and cost forecasts for new and migrating services and financial management of our existing ones.

You will also be responsible for the management of Cloud Service Provider incentive programmes and ensuring that our cloud financial policies and standard operating procedures are developed and maintained as well as contributing to policies and processes designed to address and mitigate risk.

This is a new and developing role for us and to succeed you will need to be experienced in the management of public cloud services and be proficient in the use of the tools and reporting required to do this. Preferably certified, you will have knowledge of the services provided by AWS as a CSP and a proven track record in the creation and cost management of cloud based services.

You will need to be a positive and proactive team player with the confidence to influence decisions both within and external to the department and with a variety of stakeholders and vendors so will have excellent communication skills. You will be as comfortable writing policy and procedure and managing business as usual financials as you are investigating and managing the technical aspects of cloud services, and will be able to produce key deliverables to tight deadlines by effectively managing multiple priorities.

At the University of East London, we aim to attract and retain the best possible staff and offer a working environment at the heart of a dynamic region with excellent transport links. You can look forward to a warm, sincere welcome, genuine camaraderie and mobility in an institution led with passion, visibility and purpose. Your impact, resilience and sense of collegiality will directly contribute to the University’s future and those of the students whose lives you will touch and change forever. We also offer a great range of benefits including pension, family friendly policies and an on-site nursery and gym at our Docklands Campus.
