Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 503699), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in epidemiology, microbiology, bioinformatics, bio-mathematics/statistics or related disciplines. They should have strong expertise in infectious disease epidemiology including the analysis of antimicrobial resistance dynamics using statistical or mathematical approaches; excellent written and oral communication skills; and the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Relevant post-doctoral work experience in the analysis of phenotypic and genotypic antimicrobial resistance data, and an excellent track record of publications and grants would be advantages.

The appointee will conduct infectious disease epidemiological research primarily focusing on antimicrobial resistance. He/She will supervise junior research staff and students; develop research programs independently; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; and assist in general administrative, operational and other duties as assigned. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
