Assistant Professor in Social Data Science (f/m/d)

Responsibilities:

In this position you will typically take over teaching responsibilities in the following fields with an international perspective:

  • Data Science Concepts and Methods for Social Science Data
  • Data Science applied in Social and Business Contexts
  • Artificial Intelligence in Society and Business

The successful candidate will advise students during their studies and student projects, and will supervise Bachelor, Master, and PhD theses. 

Furthermore, the candidate will be expected to engage in innovative social data science research, to collaborate in an interdisciplinary research team, to raise third-party funded projects, as well as to further develop the Master of Science Program ‘Data Science for Society and Business”.

Your qualifications and experience:

  • PhD degree in Computational Social Science, Sociology, Political Science, Business Administration, Economics, Applied Data Science, or related fields
  • Solid background and expertise in quantitative social sciences and/or in Data Science, Statistics and Computer Science, with a strong connection to Social Science Data
  • Internationally visible background at the interface of social science and data science adapting innovative analytical methods for application to the ever-growing new forms of social data to study diverse aspects of society
  • Experience and success in teaching in international and diverse environments
  • Documented teaching experience in social sciences e.g. in sociology, political science, economics, or demography and courses related to quantitative methods/data science
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interest in innovative teaching methods
  • Strong publication record related to data-based approaches in social science research
  • Experience in transferring research knowledge to solving problems in business, administration or management
  • Responsible, self-motivated person able to work independently and as a part of a diverse team
  • Fluent in English, the language of instruction and communication on campus
  • Intercultural experience and competencies will be considered as additional assets
