Job Description

Research Fellow (Quantum machine learning and/or quantum optimization and/or quantum simulation with NISQ devices)

The Angelakis group at CQT is looking for a postdoctoral research fellow with a strong research background and a PhD in quantum information with a focus on quantum algorithms and applications. Candidates from quantum simulations and quantum many-body physics, or implementations of quantum computing  may also inquire as well.

Publications in high level research journals is an essential criterion, and experience in quantum algorithms in the areas of quantum machine learning and/or quantum optimisation or quantum chemistry problems would be a strong plus.

Past work in quantum algorithms for industrial applications using NISQ computers (chemistry or logistics or finance for example) will also be a desirable but not necessary.

The research will involve both analytical ‘pen and paper’ studies as well as numerical simulations; it is also expected that use of prototype quantum computers will be involved for testing of the algorithms (in direct collaboration with experimentalists, or remotely, through access to online quantum hardware). Collaboration with industry are also possible.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Qualification: Ph.D. in Physics
  • Strong research background and a PhD in quantum information with a focus on quantum algorithms and applications
  •  Able to work independently and multi-task

Remuneration will commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Duration of Contract: up to 1 year (subject to funding availability and performance appraisal)

Informal inquiries should be first sent to dimitris.angelakis@gmail.com Applications can then be submitted via the link below and should contain: a CV, a summary of their past research (2 pages), plans for the future (1 page), 1 paper/draft they consider their best work, and the contact details (email) of three referees.

We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
