Job Description
NUS is a world-class university that provides an outstanding and supportive research environment. Its School of Computing is highly ranked (within the top 15) among the computer science departments in the world. Singapore is a vibrant, well-connected city with low taxes and is a research hub in Asia.
Two post-doctoral positions are available. The positions are funded by a generous NRF fellowship for AI awarded to one of our Assistant Professors, Dr Arnab.
The goal of the project is to develop statistical and computational guarantees for algorithms performing causal inference. While there has been a long history of study on causal reasoning, the traditional AI viewpoint is mostly non-algorithmic. Our aim is to build quantitative understanding of fundamental problems in causal hypothesis testing, experiment design, and structure/parameter learning that are motivated by current applications in econometrics and computational biology involving high-dimensional models. Please check https://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/~arnab/research.html for some of his recent work along these lines.
Qualifications
We are looking for postdoctoral candidates with strong publication records either in theoretical computer science and statistics or in causal inference.
Please email to arnabb@nus.edu.sg regarding your interest, along with your CV and names of two references.
