About the Job

Reporting to the Professorial Lead (Midwifery), the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Midwifery will contribute independently and as part of a team to support the Academic Unit’s teaching and research outcomes to maintain and develop scholarly, research and/or professional activities.

Appointment at Level B or C will primarily focus on the development, delivery and coordination of courses within the unit’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs and contribute to the unit’s research agenda.

Appointment at Level D will make a significant contribution to academic leadership of the unit’s teaching and learning initiatives in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Enhancing the research profile of the unit through building a research team including higher degree students, fostering a national profile and networking and attracting and delivering competitive research grant funding and publications, the role will actively engage with industry, external funding bodies and research consumers.

Skills and Experience

Applications are encouraged from emerging and accomplished academics with the qualifications and experience relevant to appointment at Academic Level B, C or D, as referenced in the position description. Demonstrated expertise, knowledge and contribution to the discipline of Midwifery and a PhD qualification in a health related discipline and current (or eligibility for) registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia are minimum essential requirements for all applicants.

Appointment at Level D will also require a national and international record of achievement in a research field relevant to midwifery.

Base salaries are $100,184 (Level B), $122,361 (Level C) to $147,000 (Level D). In addition, we offer generous superannuation contributions of up to 17%.
