Head of Student Wellbeing

Full time; Competitive salary commensurate with experience

Sidney Sussex College invites applications for the newly established role of Head of Student Wellbeing.  This is a major initiative for the College; our hope is that it will be transformative in terms of rethinking how to build an environment in which our students will flourish.  We also imagine it as a model for the broader Collegiate University.

The appointee will design, test, and implement a new strategy for student wellbeing, based on a whole-institution approach to promoting good mental health and resilience, and centred on a structured programme of new activities and resources.   The postholder will report directly to the Senior Tutor and work closely with the pastoral team to support the wellbeing of students.

Reflecting the importance of the role to the College and the close engagement with students, Principal Officers, and the Fellowship, the post-holder will be a Bye-Fellow of the College.

This is a full time post, requiring a dedicated candidate who will work such hours as are necessary to fulfil the responsibilities. Benefits include an annual leave entitlement of 33 days including bank holidays; an excellent contributory pension scheme provided by the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS); dining privileges of a bye-fellow; and, subsidised membership of the College’s gym facilities.

This post would suit a strategic, pro-active, and naturally collaborative personality with a successful track record of achievement in mental health services, welfare or counselling. Experience of working in the higher education sector would also be welcomed. Excellent communication and leadership skills together with experience of implementing strategic change are also important to this role.

The college welcomes informal enquiries from prospective applicants; these should be directed to HR@sid.cam.ac.uk in the first instance.

An applicant pack and application form are available on the College website at https://www.sid.cam.ac.uk/about-sidney/vacancies.   In order to apply, please complete and submit an application form with a covering letter outlining your suitability for the post to jobs@sid.cam.ac.uk by the closing date below.

The closing date of application is Monday 26 April 2021 with interviews expected to take place in w/c 10 May 2021. Any offer of appointment is subject to: the receipt of two satisfactory references; verification of identity and qualifications; and, eligibility to work in the UK.

Sidney Sussex College is an equal opportunities employer.
