Head of Education and Skills Policy

Up to £62,500 per annum + excellent benefits

London

We are looking for an outstanding Head of Education and Skills Policy to take the Academy’s work forward as we deliver our 2020-2025 strategic plan.

The Royal Academy of Engineering is harnessing the power of engineering to build a sustainable society and an inclusive economy that works for everyone.

In collaboration with our Fellows and partners, we’re growing talent and developing skills for the future, driving innovation and building global partnerships, and influencing policy and engaging the public.

Together we’re working to tackle the greatest challenges of our age.

Engineering is at the heart of our nation and our future: transforming ideas and materials into global infrastructure, products and services that increase the wealth and health of our economy and society. Yet our profession suffers from long-term skills shortages and under-representation. There is significant work going on across our sectors to address these challenges and the Academy is leading this effort. In addition, the Academy is focusing on new approaches to teaching and learning in engineering, driving skills to meet global sustainability and net-zero challenges and ensuring our profession has the highest standards of ethics and professional responsibility.

The successful candidate will lead a talented team to drive and deliver an action focused programme of activity to improve inclusion and workplace cultures across all of engineering, working in partnership with many of the UK’s leading engineering companies and professional bodies.

You will have detailed knowledge and substantial experience of engineering/STEM education. This is a leadership role and you will develop a significant profile across STEM education and professional engineering communities and will find real intellectual challenge and privileged access to some of the country’s best minds.  This is a rare opportunity to make a meaningful impact across a whole profession for current and future generations.

In return, we offer an unrivalled package of benefits including a non-contributory pension scheme, BUPA cash plan, private medical insurance, subsidised restaurant, regular social activities, health and wellbeing programmes and the possibility of flexible working, as well as significant investment into your personal and professional development. Our offices are based in central London near St. James' Park. We have adapted our working practices in response to Covid-19, and all staff are currently working remotely.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
