University of Bath
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education

The University of Bath is a globally recognised institution with over 17,000 students from 130 countries. It is one of the most innovative and high performing universities in the UK. Consistently ranked in the Top 10 in the country and with a strong international profile, it has an ambitious agenda for the future. With a strong local presence, respected national profile including a strong reputation for student employability and a broad international outlook, this is a university with ambition. The University is now looking to augment the senior leadership team with the appointment of a new Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education. This role will be right at the heart of the University’s aspirations and the new PVC will bring new skills, new perspectives and new drive to deliver the new strategy.

The new PVC Education will be able to build from a position of strength. In recent years, the University has achieved a Gold TEF Award and high rankings in many student-facing surveys. The introduction of the Bath Blend has been pivotal, and placements are an integral part of undergraduate courses. The PVC Education is responsible for the strategic oversight of all activity relating to education and the academic offer at the University of Bath. Priorities will include: pursuing curriculum development and overseeing innovation in courses; refreshing and enhancing the design and development of placements; expanding Bath’s online presence and strengthening the portfolio for taught post-graduate courses; developing a greater profile for the University internationally in terms of its education activity; and exploiting the opportunities for digital and blended learning approaches. The post-holder will be a member of the University Executive Board and will be expected to work strategically and collaboratively with other senior leaders to help shape and deliver the University’s strategy and vision.

This is an opportunity for a strategic individual who can think long-term. Strong candidates will bring a demonstrable track-record of leading change and driving innovation with respect to education. They will also have a credible research track-record. They must be superb internal and external relationship-builders, with the ability to operate at a strategic level. An ability to influence and inspire colleagues across the institution will be critical. The University has ambitious goals; this is an opportunity for an academic leader to drive a critical element of the University’s future vision.

The University of Bath values diversity and is committed to ensuring equality of opportunity. The University welcomes expressions of interest and applications from candidates from all communities and diversity of backgrounds.
