Docent Toni Seppälä’s lab (älä/) at the University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Hospital has an opening for a

in precision medicine and solid tumor biology laboratory.

The new staff member will have a lab managing role in maintaining organoid and 2D cell culture operations when launching a large patient-derived organoid initiative establishing and characterizing individual tumor models. A large number of tumors from multiple gastrointestinal cancer types will undergo comprehensive profiling, and the organoids are used to predict clinical treatment response. Predictive and prognostic liquid biopsy -based biomarkers such as circulating tumor DNA are studied in clinically relevant settings, such as a large randomized controlled trial utilizing the translational precision tools in genuine frameworks of care. The aim of our research is to facilitate the use of data intensive biomarkers in patient care, and expand our opportunities to provide precision medicine tools to near future clinical service. Our exploratory aim is to improve understanding of the carcinogenesis focusing on biology of hereditary cancer.

We expect experience in applicable field of biomedical sciences, accuracy, reliability, and proficiency in spoken Finnish and English. Experience in cell culture and everyday wet lab applications, as well as understanding of basic biomedicine methods are highly appreciated.
