The Department of Geosciences and Geography at the Faculty of Science is an exceptionally diverse unit for academic research and education. The common denominator of the research at the Department is our planet Earth, from its core to the structures of its surface and its people.

Institute of Seismology https://www.helsinki.fi/fi/seismologian-instituutti is engaged in seismological research, education, continuous Earth monitoring, and consults government and private organizations in their projects requiring seismological expertise. The institute belongs to the Department of the Geosciences and Geography within the Faculty of Science.

The Institute is hosting FIN-EPOS https://www.helsinki.fi/fi/infrastruktuurit/fin-epos and Nordic-EPOS https://www.helsinki.fi/fi/infrastruktuurit/nordic-epos consortiums. FIN-EPOS is national consortium coordinating data delivery (e.g. seismological, geodetical, geomagnetic, rock physical) to EPOS https://www.epos-eu.org . EPOS is an Open Access e-infrastructure platform proving Solid Earth geophysical data and services for Europe.

RESEARCH COORDINATOR of the FIN-EPOS and Nordic-EPOS consortiums

A fixed term position 1.4.2021-31.12.2024.

The coordinator will be responsible for communication and coordination of the FIN-EPOS and Nordic-EPOS activities. He/she is responsible for planning and implementation of FAIR data management practices for FIN-EPOS solid earth geophysical datasets in Finland and the delivery of FIN-EPOS data to EPOS ERIC. He/she will participate in preparing applications for national, Nordic and EU funding calls.

Requirements

The Research Coordinator shall hold a doctoral degree in a suitable field. He/she should have experience in working in multidisciplinary environments, data management, FAIR principles and good communication skills. The position requires fluency in English and in Finnish.

Salary and benefits

Salary range for the position is 4000-4500 €/month depending on the qualifications of the applicant.
