Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the experimental project “nonlinear processes with Rydberg vapors”

The experimental group of Wenhui Li at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), Singapore, is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on the experimental project “nonlinear processes with Rydberg vapors”.

Description of the project: This is an experimental project aiming to investigate various nonlinear effects using Rydberg vapors, including efficient conversion between microwave and optical photons through a six-wave mixing process, THz waves generation, and more. These processes have wide-range practical applications, such as sensitive detection of microwave and THz waves as well as compact THz sources.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to take the lead in designing and performing experiments in the above described project. This project will benefit from established expertise of the group in experimental Rydberg physics, from close collaboration with theoreticians working on this and related problems, and from strong scientific and technical environment and financial support at CQT.

Qualifications

Requirements: The potential candidates are required to hold a PhD degree in experimental AMO physics, and must have extensive working experience in nonlinear process and/or wave mixing in atomic ensembles. Candidates’ expertise in the above fields should be proven with a record of peer-reviewed publications and with strong recommendation of peers working in these fields. Moreover, the candidates are required to have strong communication skills in both spoken and written English.
