Research Assistant

Job Description

You will join as a Research Assistant in the Harmful Algal Bloom Team in the Marine and Biology Laboratory located in St John's Island under the Tropical Marine Science Institute, National University of Singapore.

Duties include the following:

• Regular field trips onboard research vessels that may extend outside conventional office hours
• Preparation, collection and analysis of water samples
• Identification of phytoplankton in water samples
• General maintenance and housekeeping of laboratories and equipment
• Tracking and procurement of laboratory supplies
• Data analysis
• Assist in report writing/ Scientific paper writing
• General administrative duties

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification is a Bachelor Degree in a relevant subject area
• Basic laboratory skills is a must
• Proficiency in oral and written English
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as with other team members
• Related working experience in marine science will be an advantage
