Job Details

UCD School of Medicine wishes to appoint a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Mental Health Nursing (five years, full-time) to contribute to teaching, curriculum design and enhancement and academic administration on the School's undergraduate and graduate-taught programmes, and to work with clinical personnel in the mental health services and other external partners in supporting student learning. In addition to teaching and administrative duties, the post holder will engage in research and scholarship in the discipline and will contribute to the development of the School's research agenda. Based on level of prior experience, the post holder will be expected to assume leadership responsibilities as assigned by the Dean and Head of School.

As a publicly funded, research-intensive university, UCD conducts research and other scholarly activities aimed at advancing knowledge that informs public policy and disciplinary practices. For this reason, the basic entry qualification for a faculty appointment to the University is a PhD or an equivalent doctoral degree. The University recognises that, relative to other disciplines, there may be few doctorally-prepared members of the discipline in which this post is being offered. In recognition of this, the University may consider recommending candidates for appointment, who do not hold a doctoral degree. However, candidates recommended for appointment must demonstrate evidence of commitment to completing a doctoral degree within the lifetime of the contract period. This will normally involve evidence of current registration on a doctoral programme and a report from the candidate's academic supervisor, indicating satisfactory progress towards completion of the degree. University Boards of Assessors will not recommend a candidate for a permanent appointment in the absence of a doctoral degree. In making recommendations for appointment in the absence of a doctoral degree, Boards of Assessors also consider the level of professional experience and commitment to the discipline.

95 Lecturer / Assistant Professor (above the bar) 2010 salary scale: €54,848 - €86,235 per annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guideline.

Closing date: 17:00hrs (local Irish time) on 15th March 2021.

Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 17:00hrs (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.
