Job Description
The aim is to visualize the atomic structure of mono- or bilayer 2D films and link it to their local optical properties. Aberration-corrected STEM on monolayer materials will be performed, so the candidate has to be experienced in advanced electron microscopy. Hands-on skills in 2D film transfer for (S)TEM sample preparation will be valuable, as well as experience in synthesizing monolayer semiconductors via CVD or CVT. Photoluminescence spectroscopy will be performed as well as electron spectroscopy in the STEM. Some of the work will also involve supporting a PhD student with colloidal nanoparticle synthesis for nanoplasmonic applications.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in physics, chemistry, or materials science, with a PhD in nanophotonics related to 2D semiconductors, and/or advanced electron microscopy.
