Cranfield University Student Experience and Students’ Association welcomes applications from an experienced General Manager, ideally in a Higher Education or Not-For-Profit setting and have experience in managing multiple stakeholders.

About Student Experience

The academic activity of the University is supported by a wide range of service departments. Our Student Experience, Professional Service Unit (PSU) is focused, innovative and committed to enhancing the experience of our students. The PSU brings together a number of services, including the Cranfield Student’s Association, along with the Library, Careers, Student Advice Centre, Technology Enhanced Learning, the Centre for Andragogy & Academic Skills, Networked Learning and Masterships. These key service areas work collaboratively to enhance our student experience.

About the Role

You will manage and develop the operation of the Cranfield Students’ Association (CSA), managing commercial and membership services, providing quality services in a cost effective way, whilst ensuring the services are focused on supporting our student experience. The role will ensure representation of the interests of students (Student Voice and engagement) and provide services that enhance their time at the University.

The role will manage the CSA activity to meet the recreational, social and leisure needs of students and to promote their welfare, in cooperation and collaboration with the University.

About You

You will have managerial experience at an operational level, preferably within a Students’ Union or Not-For-Profit organisation. Knowledge of Higher Education will assist candidates in the expectations of the role and the stakeholder management required. Awareness in aspects of running commercial operations would be an advantage alongside experience of budget management. A clear interest in customer experience and student support is central to the role, which is aligned with the University’s target of delivering a top 10 learner experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential as you will be dealing with a wide range of staff across the University.
